Donations
Rutherford Cemetery and Columbarium is a nonprofit cemetery association governed by a board of trustees. A trust fund was established in 1940 to provide for the continuous maintenance to assure the cemetery retains its natural beauty.
Our funding comes through the sale of lots and niches and generous donations. We put a minimum of 20% of the sale price of the lots and niches into a perpetual fund to fund the long term
care of the cemetery.
We are governed by a volunteer board of directors consisting of a President, Vice
President, Treasurer, Secretary, Lot Sales and several Trustees. We have volunteers that help with maintaining the cemetery by donating their time, goods and dollars. Each spring and fall we have a cleanup at the cemetery where volunteers gather to work on projects.
In the past years we have been cutting down ash trees that have died due to the emerald ash borer. We have replaced those trees and depend on volunteers to water the trees to ensure the trees thrive. We have several more ash trees that are dying from the emerald ash borer and will need to be replaced in the near future. We also maintain and update the landscaping. This year we replaced the plantings near the columbarium.
These projects are above and beyond our usual maintenance expenses. We appreciate any donations that we receive so that we can
continue to spruce up the grounds with similar projects throughout the year.
